Applying for the CERB by Phone
If you do not wish to apply for the benefit online, you can also apply over the phone by calling 1-800-959-2019 or 1-800-959-2041.
Before you call, please have your social insurance number (SIN) and postal code ready in order to verify your identity.
You will be taken through a series of automated telephone prompts that instruct you to enter your information, including:
- Your SIN number;
- Confirmation of your postal code; and,
- The period that you are applying for.
Finally, you will be asked to declare that you qualify for the benefit.
The CRA will then issue your payment by direct deposit (if you are signed up) or by cheque. If you do not have direct deposit set-up, you can expect to receive your cheque by mail within 10 business days.
